We are seeing innovation in the tech world changing so fast, we can hardly keep up. Some innovations are only useful for a time, before better and more efficient technologies phase them out. However, researchers have been keen to see whether the advancements in technology are affecting atmospheric changes, which trickles down to climate change.
In this article, we look at a timeline in history in which we take a closer look at how a change in frequencies has influenced atmospheric changes.
What Is Atmospheric Attenuation?
Atmospheric attenuation is the process with which the flux density of a parallel beam of energy decreases with increasing distance from the source due to the absorption or scattering by the atmosphere. Attenuation decreases the intensity of electromagnetic radiation due to the absorption or scattering of the photons.
However, attenuation does not include the intensity decrease brought about by the inverse-square law geometric spreading. Rain is the main cause of attenuation for frequencies above 10GHz. With that said, the atmosphere is full of free ions, electrons, and molecules and their interaction with radio waves is dependent on the frequency. This means that if frequency increases, the attenuation effect increases.
With the advancement in technology, radio frequencies are bound to increase, especially since it is touted to go wireless. The best way to investigate this phenomenon is to look at technology over time in history.
Frequency and Atmospheric Changes Throughout History
How Tech Has Changed Over the Past Decade
The past decade has been a glorious time for tech enthusiasts as technology has shaped and disrupted all sectors of the economy. We are now acutely dependent on technology and this shift in dynamics has changed how we live and interact with the environment around us.
Here is an overview of how technology has changed since 2010:
Online Streaming Services
In 2010, internet services were only available to a few people around the world compared to today. It would take forever to get proper internet speeds to download a video. Ten years ago, online streaming seemed light-years away. However, it has become the most convenient way of consuming video, and it does not surprise anyone anymore.
Advancements in technology has allowed us to break through technical barriers to not only watch their favourite shows and movies as well as catching up on the latest breaking news. With applications such as Netflix, Stan, HBO, Amazon Video, Film Box Live, Cinemax, Showtime, and more slowly phasing out free tv.
In addition, sites such as YouTube allow us to watch documentaries and even rewind live TV.
Over the next decade, we can expect much better streaming services.
Wireless Internet and Communication
With changes in modern gadgets and applications, we have also changed how we access the internet.
In 2010, there was widespread use of mobile internet and broadband, but Wi-Fi hotspots were a pipe dream for most people. However, ten years later, wireless internet and communication is the norm.
Better yet, Wi-Fi has become almost a basic need and can be found in cafés, hotels, offices, homes, even in cars and aeroplanes. Advancements in technology has transcended the boundary limitations of the cost and speed of internet connectivity. This is one of the reasons why we are spending more time online meaning we are glued to our screens – we are addicted to them.
With that said, wireless communication has also taken root. This includes Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and more. For example, we now connecting pour phones to media players such as Air Pods and Bluetooth videos. The result is that we now have more freedom and total access to the internet.
While wireless technologies make connectivity easier, the effects of electromagnetic frequency radiation are something to be aware of.
For this reason, it is recommended that you look into protecting yourself and your family from EMF radiation. You can find several EMF shielding products as the world prepares for a massive 5G rollout.
A decade ago, we would stand in line to purchase tickets, and copious hours of talking with travel agencies for good deals. A decade later, over 70% of travellers research and procure tickets and book overnight stays at hotels or Air BnB’s online.
On top of this, travellers and businesses can track the location of several means of transport.
For example, logistics companies use freight and tracking systems to pinpoint the exact location of a truck, aeroplane, trains, and other forms of transport.
With the advancement in technology, travel has become much easier and remote locations are opening to their territories for tourism.
Mobile and Wearable Devices
There was a time when people had to use landline telephones to make calls, and mobile cell phones were still the stuff of science fiction. By 2010, there were over 296 million cell phones sold. However, there was limited innovation at the time and cell phones looked way different than they do today.
A decade later, we have smartphones that have become the most preferred device for accessing the internet. They have combined various features that required one device to do. For example, you can catch up on news, find out what your friend from across the world is up to, be an alarm, an MP3 player, transfer documents and files, and so much more.
Today, we are shifting from 4G internet connectivity to 5G. This new network will increase internet speeds and wireless connectivity between devices. As good as this will be, there is the danger of radiation as a result of atmospheric attenuation.
Scientific Research and Studies
For every innovative technology for individual mass consumption, there are hundreds of automated equipment used for scientific and research purposes. For example, spoil scientists had to wait days even weeks to get lab results of their samples. Today, they have new and easier ways of analyzing samples and they can send them to colleagues and journal editors in a matter of minutes.
Changes in Frequency and Virus Outbreaks – A Timeline in History
Advanced technology is one way to evolve our way of life. However, there is enough evidence to show that changes in frequency are connected to virus outbreaks. Here is how changes in frequency and advancement in technology connects to major virus outbreaks over time.
- In 1918, the introduction of radio waves around the world coincided with the Spanish flu
- In 1968, the earth got its first protective layer in the van Allen belt and six months later, the Hong Kong Flu broke out
- In 2009, the swine flu outbreak coincided with the launch of multiple technologies such as increased wireless connectivity, cloud storage, and the current 4G network
- In 2014, the Ebola virus outbreak is connected to the time when smartphones started becoming common phenomena
- In 2019, as the world geared to roll out the 5G network, the COVID-19 outbreak was announced, and world scientists and governments are working overtime to look for a cure and vaccine
There is evidence showing that changes in frequency are potentially linked to virus outbreaks that devastate economies and may affect millions of people on earth.
This is worsened by atmospheric attenuation. However, you can protect yourself from EMF radiation as we continue to see advancements in technology. Contact us for more information.

The technological advancements in the world today have contributed to disruptions in virtually all industries in the world. One of the technological advancements we need to put more emphasis on is the latest news that 5G internet connectivity is upon us.
In 2020, we can expect to see a 5G enabled phones from the major manufacturers, including budget and mid-range models. The chances are that if you buy a new phone this year and, in the years, to come, it will be 5G enabled.
While this presents faster internet speeds, scientists are torn between the effectiveness of the new technology. Cool and faster phones are better and more efficient, there is an ever-increasing risk of electromagnetic frequency radiation.
But how much do you know about 5G? Here are the top 10 things you need to know about the 5G rollout.
What is 5G?
There have been four generations of internet connection, and most of you are using the fourth-generation (4G). 5g is the next generation of mobile broadband augmentation.
While internet connectivity speeds continue to increase, with 5G connectivity, you can expect to experience faster upload and download speeds. When carried out across the globe, 5G will see a drastic decrease in the time it takes to communicate over wireless networks.
Ten Things You Need to Know About The 5G Rollout
Now that we have seen what 5G is, what more do you need to know? Here are the top ten things you need to know about the 5G rollout.
1. How Does 5G Work?
When the tech companies that are developing 5G, they tend to use jargon, such as massive MIMO, beamforming, and full-duplex, it all sounds so confusing. 5G, in easy terms, will broadcast data over the internet in a different manner compared to the previous generations. The keyword when it comes to 5G is speed.
The main difference between 5G and the previous generations is that 5G speeds will surpass the limits of 4G while allowing for higher latency. 5G network will use higher frequencies, which are largely uncrowded, and this allows for faster speeds.
2. When Was 5G Launched?
5G technology has been rolled out in several countries since 2019 including Australia. The first applications for the 5G connectivity have been felt by people installing smart home devices and hand-held devices.
It is expected that many countries will have extensively rolled out 5g technology by 2025.
3. Do I Need New Devices to Use 5G?
Unfortunately, most of the smart devices we have today are not 5G enabled. You will need a new smartphone and smart home devices that can support 5G.
Most of the current 5G enabled phones are high end, which means that you will have to spend more. However, as more stakeholders get into the sector, we are bound to see a reduction in prices. Besides this, the increase in mobile data traffic is expected to reach 131 exabytes per month.
4. How Is 4G Different From 5G?
A majority of the mid- to high-end smartphones today use 4G. This means that most people today are experiencing the highest internet speeds in history. However, 5G is about to surpass the data limits with better data latency.
With that said, the cellular networks only have speeds that are slightly faster than normal. This will see a reduction of lag. 5G is expected to reduce the time it takes to load a page or video down to a few milliseconds.
5. How Much Is Being Spent on the 5G Roll Out?
According to Gartner, investments into the development of 5G technology is expected to reach over $4 billion. This is up from $2.2 billion in 2019. This is an 89% year-on-year (YOY) growth in revenue.
This growth is expected to grow exponentially as demand increases.
6. How Many People Are Using 5G Today?
With new technologies getting launched every day, how sure are you that you will not be among the few? According to the Ericsson Mobility Report, there will be at least 400 million 5G subscribers across the world by 2024.
This is attributed to the long-term benefits of 5G. The report also predicts that at least 65% of the world population will have used a 5G enabled device.
5G companies are already using major stadiums across the world as testing grounds for 5G connectivity. The aim is to make the events more enjoyable and accessible for the fans.
7. Which Technologies Will Benefit From 5G?
The level of technological innovation being experienced today is stemmed from the current data speed limits and latency. However, there is more to 5G than a speed boost.
Experts believe that it is the foundational technology that will support the adoption of other technologies such as augmented reality, the internet of things (IoT), machine learning, artificial intelligence, and virtual reality.
This will see a rise in e-sports, innovation in self-driving cars and smart homes. However, the most significant, positive effect will be in healthcare where telehealth service will improve drastically.
8. Can 5G Work With 4G?
In the early stages of the 5G deployment, it is expected that both 4G and 5G will work together. What we mean is that you can connect to the 4G network to provide the control signaling, and to the 5G network for faster data connectivity.
In the areas with limited 5G connectivity, the data connectivity is transferred to the 4G network. This will ensure a continuous connection, albeit a decrease in speed. Essentially, this means that the 5G network will come to complement the current 4G network.
9. Is There Risk of EMF Radiation With 5G?
While having a mobile internet speed that is 20 times faster than the current 4G is amazing, it comes at a cost. Cell phones and other smart devices emit electromagnetic frequencies that are harmful to the human body.
With 5G, the radiation will be much higher and thus cause more health issues. The radiation will cause damage to cell membranes and release free and cancerous radicals. 5G will cause more potent health issues compared to 4G.
Studies show that EMF radiation can affect your health in the following ways:
- Change to cell metabolization
- Heart flutters
- Fertility problems especially in men
- Cardiac arrhythmias
- Eye and skin problems
EMF radiation also causes psychiatric effects such as anxiety, depression, and neurodegenerative issues. This is one of the many reasons why there is so much controversy surrounding 5G. If you’re wondering what are EMF and EMR, and why could electromagnetic frequency be a hazard to health, read my article here on What is EMF and Why is it a Hazard?
10. How Can EMF Protection Help?
To be best prepared for the 5G rollout, you need to look beyond getting 5G enabled devices. It is recommended that you protect yourself and your family from 5g and the EMF radiation emitted by the devices.

Introduction to Electromagnetic Frequency (EMF)
In 2002, the World Health Organization (WHO) through the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) suggested that electromagnetic fields were “possibly carcinogenic to humans,”. This was not the first-time electrical activity was linked to cancer. Back in the 1970s, studies showed that people living close to high-voltage lines were more prone to cancer. Such findings were dismissed as false information meant to discourage people from owning electrical gadgets. Fast forward to the new millennia – studies have provided compelling evidence to suggest that this is, in fact, the truth. The National Cancer Institute links the rise in cases of brain tumors and leukemia in children to living near power lines, early exposure to magnetic fields, and parents exposure to magnetic radiation at the workplace. But what exactly is electromagnetic radiation?
What Are Electromagnetic Fields?
The motion of electrically charged particles generates electromagnetic waves. They are known as electromagnetic fields (EMF) at low frequencies and electromagnetic radiation (EMR) at very high frequencies. These waves travel through air, vacuum, and other substances. Electric fields are different from magnetic fields – the former is created by changes in voltage while the latter is generated when electric current flows. Electric and magnetic fields are jointly known as electromagnetic fields (EMF).
Sources of Electromagnetic Fields and Radiation
Electromagnetic fields are naturally occurring but invisible to the human eye. They have existed as long as the earth. In the 20th century, exposure steadily increased due to man-made sources. The rise in demand for electricity, advanced wireless technology, and changes in social and workplace norms were blamed for the trend. Despite early warnings, the use of electronic gadgets skyrocketed from the 1970s into the new millennia. There are two types of human-made EMFs: extremely low frequency EMFs (ELF-EMFs) and radiofrequency radiation. Sources of extremely low frequency EMFs are power lines, electrical appliances such as televisions, shavers, hairdryers, and electrical wirings. Radiofrequency radiation is produced by equipment such as cell phones, tablets, laptops, smart meters, radio and television signals, (MRI) devices, satellite stations, microwave ovens, cordless telephones, and computer and television screens.
Wireless Devices and Mobile Phones
The effect of wireless devices and mobile phones on human health has been a subject of interest and study worldwide. Mobile devices emit radiation at a rage of 450–3800 MHz and 24–80 GHz in 5G. Studies show that wireless frequency, including those emitted by Wi-Fi causes oxidative stress, testicular/sperm damage, cellular DNA damage, apoptosis, endocrine changes, and neuropsychiatric effects. The existing 2G, 3G, and 4G networks emit low microwave bands of 600 MHz to 3.5 GHz, which is also the range of household wireless devices such as baby monitors and Wi-Fi networks. The intensity of radio waves decreases as you move further from the transmitting antenna – a user holding a mobile phone close to his face is more exposed than one using a handset device. 5G cellular network that began deploying in 2019 is at least 20 times faster than 4G. To achieve such immense speeds, it emits microwave bursts at between 24–80 GHz. Although the technology solves the issue of slow connectivity, it exposes us to extremely high levels of magnetic field radiation that may lead to health complications.
Interaction with Humans
Do EMFs Cause Cancer?
Whether electromagnetic fields are carcinogenic or not is a debate that is not likely to end soon. At the beginning of the millennia, the World Health Organization (WHO) stated that there could be a link between cancer and electrical activity, but the organization is adamant to provide a conclusive response. The National Cancer Institute, on its part, attributes the rise in cases of brain tumours and leukemia in children to early exposure to magnetic fields. Still, few people understand what electromagnetic fields are and how they work.
Despite years of research, thousands of publications, and the general perception of EMFs, the World Health Organization insists that there is no sufficient evidence to link electromagnetic fields to deteriorating human health. In 2002, the organization through the International Agency for Research on Cancer suggested that the waves could be carcinogenic. The National Cancer Institute links the rampant cases of leukemia and tumors in children to early exposure to sources of EMFs. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) acknowledges that people exposed to high magnetic fields have increased cancer rates but fails to declare EMFs carcinogenic.
Effects of EMF on Pregnancy
According to WHO, exposure to household sources of electromagnetic fields does not increase the risk of malformations, spontaneous abortions, congenital diseases, or low birth weight. The scientific community has dismissed the occasional reports linking prenatal complications to EMFs as non-conclusive.
Electromagnetic Frequency and Cataracts
Workers exposed to high levels of microwave radiation and other radiofrequency have reported experiencing eye irritation and cataracts. Animal research has, however, dismissed that exposure to levels not thermally hazardous can lead to these conditions.
Are EMF’s Responsible for Hypersensitivity and Depression?
Some people report hypersensitivity to magnetic or electrical fields prompting questions of whether EMFs can trigger headaches, lethargy, depression, epileptic seizures, and convulsions. This claim was dismissed by a recent study that documented varying responses from people exposed to controlled electromagnetic field. In addition, there is no biological mechanism to link EMFs to hypersensitivity.
